Kalizo Bird Watching

Bird-watching at Kalizo is an all year round pleasure with excellent opportunities to view over 430 species of different birds which inhabit the floodplains and surrounding areas. The vegetation surrounding the Lodge varies from riverine forests, floodplains, and grasslands to mopani forests, ensuring that a wide variety of birds are ever present.

A leisurely boat cruise is likely to reveal the ever present Fish Eagle, Herons, Kingfishers and Coppery-Tailed Coucal and the endemic birds include the Shelly Sunbird, Brown Fire Finch and Hartlaub’s Babbler. Special birding trips and tours can be arranged.
