Peace Memorial Museum

At the Peace Memorial (National) Museum you can learn more about the history and culture of Zanzibar. The museum looks more like a mosque than a museum and has large tortoises which wander about its gardens. Exhibits including traditional carvings, the ancient drums and horns of the Alawi kings of Zanzibar, Chinese porcelain and relics from early explorers like David Livingstone's medical chest.
