About Old Dispensary
The Old Dispensary was built in the 1890s with donations from a wealthy Zanzibari businessman to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. It was originally a charitable dispensary for the poor. Beautifully restored in 1997, as part of the restoration of the waterfront, it shows off its characteristic Indian architecture with ornate carved balconies.
