About Le Village des Tortues

Located near the coastal village of Ifaty in southwestern Madagascar, Le Village des Tortues is a conservation center dedicated to protecting endangered tortoise species, particularly the radiated and spider tortoises native to the region. Spread across a 70,000-square-meter park, the reserve offers guided tours that educate visitors about the threats these animals face and the efforts being made to rehabilitate and reintroduce them into the wild. In addition to over 3,000 tortoises, guests can also spot chameleons, lizards, snakes, and baobab trees, making it a rich ecological experience. The center includes semi-free zones to prepare tortoises for rewilding and a small shop supporting local conservation efforts. A visit here pairs perfectly with nearby attractions like the Reniala Nature Reserve and the beaches of Mangily, offering a meaningful and memorable stop for nature lovers and eco-tourists.
