About Wild Horizons Kasane Cultural Village Tour

On the Cultural Tour, a guide meets the guests and accompanies them on a walk through the Cultural Village. It is an excellent opportunity to view a wide variety of bird species, including rare riverine inhabitants. Guests will also have the opportunity to both observe and touch various insects, plants and trees while under the guidance and instruction of the guide. Included in the tour, is a visit to the beautiful Mowana rapids as well as views of Impalila Island on the Namibian side of the river.

Of historical interest, is a visit to Commissioner’s, a place that the late President Seretse Khama always visited while in Kasane with his dignitaries and other village elders. It is the highest viewing point in the park, overlooking the Chobe River. Guests are then taken to visit the Four Tribes, the Basubia, Bananjwe, Batawana and the Khoi-San. Members of each tribe explains the different ways of life and different cultures. The guide also explains the history of the area. Guests will have the opportunity to watch ladies weaving baskets in the village and observe carpenters at work, as well as visit the local curio shop where all the baskets and woodcarvings are available for sale.
