About Kruger Untamed Tshokwane River Camp
Tshokwane River Camp is Kruger Untamed’s original camp – the first of its kind in the Kruger National Park. Open from 1 May to 30 September for winter season, it offers a rare opportunity to experience the allure of Kruger at its most spectacular – unscripted, unfiltered and untamed. For those who crave an unspoilt, deeply immersive safari that balances luxury with authenticity, this is it.
Located in a region that’s considered the beating heart of the Kruger National Park, a few kilometres from the legendary Tshokwane picnic site, the camp is perfectly placed to deliver unrivalled access to this area’s prolific wildlife and the dramatic landscapes that unfold along the seasonal Ripape River.
Tshokwane River Camp is a smaller retreat of just 20 tents, designed for travellers who prefer a slower pace and deeper immersion in nature. Conveniently located around 90 minutes from Skukuza Airport, it sits in one of the most wildlife-rich regions of the Kruger, ensuring consistently rewarding game viewing throughout the season. Here, safari is both refined and grounding. Daily activities include game drives as well as walking safaris and tracking experiences, offering the chance to follow spoor on foot and view the bush from a fresh perspective.

Tshokwane River Camp Canvas Tent Room
Offering everything you need, and nothing you don’t, Kruger Untamed’s tented suites are a masterclass in simple luxury, taking the concept of camping in an untamed wilderness above and beyond.
There is nothing to beat the thrill of sleeping under canvas, where your senses come to life and you connect directly with the wild landscapes around you.
This is not camping – it’s refined simplicity at its finest, allowing you to rest deeply while still feeling the presence of the wild just beyond your canvas walls.
Your bedroom area is spacious, accommodating a king-size bed with luxurious linen, soft, fluffy duvets, plush pillows and warm blankets.
A separate dressing area offers a vanity mirror, space to hang clothing, a luggage rack and waste bin. It leads on to the en-suite bathroom with its single wash basin and water containers.
Luxury amenities (soap, shampoo, body wash, body lotion) are provided. Refreshing safari butler-serviced showers filled with hot water twice a day, after safari activities and in the evenings before you go to bed.
Rooms can be configured as a King or Twin beds.
