Welcome to Kabale
Kabale is a small provincial town in Western Uganda. This lively market town serves as an ideal base for travellers exploring the many natural attractions in the surrounding area. Chief among these is the spectacularly scenic Lake Bunyonyi, which is dotted with 29 little islands, many of which are inhabited and offer excellent tourist facilities. Other not-to-be missed attractions include the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and the Mgahinga National Park, both of which offer mountain gorilla tracking tours. The town itself boasts a number of accommodation options, as well as public transport services, restaurants and supply stores. In the centre of town you will find The Home of Edirisa, a unique replica of a traditional Kiga homestead built by the renowned activist of Kiga culture and language, Festo Karwemera. The homestead features a small cultural museum, a backpackers’ hostel, an internet cafe, a craft gallery, and a popular restaurant.
