Experience Uganda Guided Tour

Adventure Beach Family Honeymoon Island Luxury Safari

Discover the quiet beauty of the “Pearl of Africa” on this thoughtfully guided 11-day SMALL GROUP GUIDED TOUR, beginning and ending in Entebbe. Travelling at a measured pace, the route weaves through some of Uganda’s most compelling landscapes, including Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls, Kibale and Lake Mburo National Parks—each distinct in character, yet seamlessly connected.

A defining moment of the journey is the opportunity to encounter the endangered mountain gorilla in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest—a rare and deeply moving experience. Alongside these wilderness encounters, there is time to connect more closely with local culture, including a visit to the Buhoma community, where traditional basket weaving offers a simple yet meaningful insight into daily life.

The journey also includes a visit to the Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch, home to Uganda’s only wild rhinos—an important conservation success set within a tranquil natural environment. Together, these experiences create a well-balanced exploration of Uganda’s landscapes and wildlife, offering both depth and quiet discovery throughout.

Day 1
1 Night

Welcome to Uganda. On arrival, you are met at the airport and transferred to your hotel, where the pace of travel begins to soften. Settle in and take a moment to absorb your surroundings as your journey unfolds.

Entebbe, resting along the tranquil shores of Lake Victoria, offers a gentle introduction to the country. With its tree-lined streets, lakeside views and easy-going charm, the town carries a quiet sense of place. Here, the day feels unhurried—an inviting setting in which to relax after your travels, while subtle glimpses of Uganda’s natural beauty begin to reveal themselves.

This guided small group journey is based in mid-range lodge accommodation on the Experience Uganda guided small group tour. Travel is undertaken in fully equipped, customized, 4×4 safari vehicles, Toyota Land Cruisers, or other appropriate vehicles with comfortable seating, all window seats for game viewing and a music system. These non-air-conditioned vehicles are equipped with pop-up roofs to facilitate the best game viewing. All luggage, besides hand luggage and photo equipment, is carried on the vehicle roof rack or trailer to ensure maximum comfort in the vehicle. Transfers between Kasane and Victoria Falls may utilise smaller vehicles where appropriate.

All travelling times in Uganda are affected by road conditions, detours and weather conditions, therefore on certain days travelling times may be longer than anticipated especially where there is a lot of distance to be covered. Please keep in mind that the time it takes to travel 100 km in your home country is not equivalent to the time it takes to travel 100 km on African roads, therefore we encourage you to sit back and enjoy the spectacular scenery Africa has to offer. Where possible additional stops will be made to ensure your travelling comfort at all times. While every effort is made to follow the planned itinerary, adjustments may occasionally be made in the interests of timing, conditions, or overall experience. Breakfast and dinner will be prepared by the lodge(s) in Uganda where you are staying. They will also prepare lunch or a lunch pack depending on the itinerary for the day.

Day 2
2 Nights

You will be met at your hotel and set out by road towards Murchison Falls, a journey that introduces you to the breadth and spirit of Uganda’s landscapes. En route, a stop is made at the Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch—home to the country’s only wild rhinos and a quietly significant conservation success. Here, the sanctuary’s small population of southern white rhinos moves freely across open bush, offering a rare opportunity for close observation. The setting is calm and unspoilt, also supporting a rich variety of birdlife and gentle walking experiences.

After a leisurely picnic lunch, the journey continues northward, with the scenery gradually shifting as you approach one of Uganda’s most celebrated natural regions. By late afternoon, you arrive within Murchison Falls National Park, where the Nile forces its way through a narrow gorge before plunging dramatically below—an enduring symbol of the park’s quiet power.

Situated in the northern reaches of the Albertine Rift Valley, Murchison unfolds across a striking meeting of landscapes. The elevated Bunyoro escarpment gives way to vast open plains, traditionally home to the Acholi people, creating a setting that feels both expansive and deeply rooted in its surroundings. The drive, taking approximately seven to eight hours excluding stops, is less a transfer than a gradual immersion into one of East Africa’s most storied wilderness areas.

Day 8

After breakfast, you journey onwards through the Ishasha sector, a quietly remarkable corner of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This region is known for its tree-climbing lions—often found draped across the branches of ancient fig trees—a rare and distinctive sight that lends the landscape a sense of quiet intrigue. As you drive, the scenery opens into broad plains framed by scattered woodland, offering a final immersion in this diverse and wildlife-rich environment.

Continuing south, the terrain gradually changes as you approach Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The open savannah gives way to denser, more mountainous forest, signalling your arrival into one of Africa’s most ancient and atmospheric ecosystems.  You reach your lodge in the afternoon, set on the edge of the forest, where the air feels cooler and the surroundings softly enclosed by greenery. Leaving the forests of Bwindi behind, you continue your journey towards Lake Mburo National Park, where the landscape opens into a gentler, more pastoral scene. The drive offers a quiet transition, with rolling hills and scattered acacia hinting at the character of the park ahead.  Arriving in the afternoon, you take to the water for a late-day boat cruise on Lake Mburo. The experience is calm and unhurried, with soft light settling over the reed-fringed shoreline. As you glide across the lake, wildlife gathers at the water’s edge—hippos surface nearby, while birds move effortlessly between land and sky, their presence adding colour and texture to the scene.

Though smaller and more intimate than many of Uganda’s parks, Lake Mburo holds a surprising richness. A necklace of lakes and wetlands supports an impressive diversity of life, from zebra and impala to eland, buffalo and waterbuck, along with a remarkable array of bird species. It is a place best appreciated at a slower pace—quiet, varied, and subtly rewarding.
