Bunyaruguru Great Crater Field

In the rolling hills of western Uganda, the landscape of Bunyaruguru County unfolds with a remarkable collection of crater lakes, more than anywhere else in the country. Situated on the edge of Queen Elizabeth National Park, this volcanic region is a visual wonder, marked by deep blue waters encircled by verdant vegetation. The Bunyaruguru Great Crater Field lies about 320 km from Kampala, offering a remote yet serene escape. Wildlife in the region is abundant, with sightings of elephants, buffalo, and various bird species. Hippos are frequently found lounging by some of the larger lakes. Travellers can engage in birdwatching, nature walks, or boat trips across the crater lakes, while hiking paths weave through the hills and forests.
