Welcome to Ssese Islands
Favourably located off the northwestern coast of Lake Victoria, this extremely remote archipelago consists of 84 idyllic islands which, for many years, were all but inaccessible to tourists. This inaccessibility has allowed the area to remain relatively unspoilt by mass tourism. Ngamba island is popular for its primate sanctuary which is home to countless orphaned and previously abused chimpanzees. However, as life on the islands crawls along at a blissfully slow pace, the majority of visitors come here to merely relax and read a good book while lounging on one of the numerous secluded beaches.
