Wildlife Friday
We were so taken up with the shark attack on Wednesday that our usual Wildlife Wednesday slot fell by the wayside. Thanks to Kosi Forest Lodge and Thonga Beach Lodge we have TWO delightful Wildlife tidbits to bring you for the weekend.

African Finfoot at Kosi Forest Lodge

Kosi had a busy week with a wonderful sighting of an African Finfoot on the morning canoe trip. Guests were awarded a fantastic sighting of this rare and interesting bird.

Did you know... that the African Finfoot is an underwater specialist..and feeds on underwater invertebrates & snails?!

Although not endangered, their secretive behaviour makes them difficult to spot and therefore a wonderful sighting for any keen birder.

Whale Sharks at Thonga Beach Lodge

There have been 3 exciting sightings of whale sharks on the open ocean experience in the past week.  On all occasion''s the guests were able to get into the sea and swim with these magnificent gentle giants of our seas.

Did you know... that you don''t need to panic, although their mouths can be 1.5m wide and house 300 or so rows of tiny teeth, Whale sharks are actually FISH and eat plankton and other microscopic organisms?

Whale Sharks occur off our Northern KZN coasts all year round.

Stay in the Isimangaliso Wetlands Park

Both Kosi Forest Lodge and Thonga Beach Lodge are situated in the beautiful, magical Isimangaliso Wetlands park.

Enjoy daily encounters with wildlife, from whales to turtles to dolphins and more, when you stay at either of these wonderful establishments.
