KZN Microbrewer''s Zulu Blonde Beer an International Success
Zulu Blonde - not our president''s next wife :-)

I always prick up my ears when my favourite beverage makes the news – and local beers are of particular interest as regular PTB readers will know by now.

So I was most interested to hear that a locally brewed beer from KwaZulu Natal had made headline news by topping a selection of close-on 50 international beer brands tested at the Wetherspoon Real Ale Festival in London – one of the world’s biggest beer festivals.

Kudos goes to microbrewer Richard Chennells who is the man behind Zulu Blonde beer, made at Zululand Breweries in Eshowe, KZN.

Chennells describes the winning beer as "not fizzy and easily drinkable".

He is delighted with the exposure Zulu Blonde will get, thanks to its success at the event – even if he doesn’t maintain top position by the end of the festival next Sunday, he’s already been able to enjoy the fact that the 50 000 litres he brewed for the event are being lapped up in 750 pubs across the UK.
