School holidays are underway and the Easter long weekend is ahead. With winter looming, make the most of the last of the warm weather and head for ?Mpumalanga for a different getaway destination in April - there''s plenty happening.

Tonteldoos Country Festival

Three days of family fun to be had at the annual Tonteldoos Country Festival at a tiny Mpumalanga hamlet, featuring the popular donkey cart rides, a Bird of Prey demonstration, boeresport (''farmers'' fun sports) and all day live entertainment by various artists.

Mpumalanga Wine Show

Wine lovers can taste almost 250 wines from 50 Cape Winelands exhibitors at the 3rd Mpumalanga Wine Show, presented by wine fundi Michael Fridjhon and his team. Apart from tasting and buying wines, visitors can buy olives, wine accessories and artisanal products.

Blue Swallow Festival

An event in support of the conservation of the Graskop forests and grasslands, the Blue Swallow Festival has an open-air market in Louis Trichardt street with fine food, arts and crafts, an art exhibition, nature talks, potjiekos competition and a fun run.

MTN Panorama Cycle Tour

A spectacular cycling event starting and ending at the Casterbridge Lifestyle Centre outside White River, with the route travelling through dramatic hills with awesome views. The race has four stages, with an average of 100km per day for the first three stages and a short time trial on the fourth day.
