Celebrate 75 years with Cathedral Peak Hotel
The award-winning Cathedral Peak Hotel is celebrating its 75th birthday this year.

From its cosy setting in a quiet valley, visitors look out onto a jagged ridge of  mountains known as the Cathedral Spur; the escarpment looms above the Hotel to the  South and West. Since 1939 the van der Riet family has offered guests warm hospitality, quality and value for money. The lure of the great outdoors combined with the Hotel''s many facilities brings families and friends back for holidays, time and again.

A bit of history

This 4* Hotel exists through the vision of one man – Albert van der Riet – who set about giving life to his vision in the 1930’s – building a road, installing water, laying infrastructure and employing local families, many of whom continue their links with the Hotel. The Hotel welcomed its first visitors at Christmas 1939. On Albert’s death, the reins were taken up by his son, William, who, together with his wife Belinda, runs the Hotel today. William’s eldest son Byron is completing his in-service training whilst waiting in the wings – set to become the next generation of the van der Riet family to run Cathedral Peak Hotel.
