Masasi

Set against a backdrop of impressive granite hills and stretching out from the main road, the Tanzanian settlement of Masasi is a rural village surrounded by pretty and wild scenery of shrubland. It provides a charming base from which to travel west towards Tunduru, or north to Nachingwea and Liwale. The 19th-century town is home to an interesting Benedictine monastery founded in 1906 by German missionaries.
