Mkomazi National Park

Lying on the slopes of the Usambara and Pare Eastern Arc mountain ranges, with the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro in the distance, Mkomazi is a stunning stopover between the tourism destinations in Tanzania’s northern circuit and the coast. The park’s wide open spaces and hilly savannah lands are home to big herds of eland, hartebeest, zebra, giraffe, buffalo and elephant. The park also supports the endangered black rhino and African wild dog, rare species such as the fringe-eared oryx, the spiral-horned lesser kudu and the gerenuk as well as over 450 bird species, including many endemic to the country.
