Lake Jipe

Located on the border between Kenya and Tanzania, Lake Jipe is an inter-territorial lake set just to the east of the northern Pare Mountains of Tanzania. The small, shallow lake covers 28 square kilometres with an average depth less than 3 metres. The beautiful Tsavo West National Park fringes the Kenyan side of the Lake, while on the Tanzanian side, the Mkomazi Game Reserve is nearby. Visitors can look forward to spotting an abundance of wildlife including various species of fish, waterfowl and mammals including hippos. Visitors can also view the magnificent array of wetland plants and lake-edge swamps, enjoy a boat ride in a traditional dugout canoe and spot elephants and antelope on its scenic shores.
