Kitulo National Park

Tanzania

Welcome to Kitulo National Park

Fondly known as "The Serengeti of Flowers" or “The Garden of God”, Kitulo National Park lies between the Kipengere, Livingstone and Poroto mountains in Tanzania’s southern highlands. This alpine and montane landscape is home to over 45 species of terrestrial orchids and more than 350 species of vascular plants. Endemic butterflies, chameleons, lizards, and rare birds like the blue swallow and mountain marsh widowbird thrive here. Though large mammals are few—occasional mountain reedbuck and eland wander the grasslands—the park’s beauty lies in its flora and birdlife. Well-marked trails allow visitors to hike across the flower-strewn plains or up surrounding slopes, while a half-day trek over the Livingstone Mountains leads to Matema Beach on Lake Nyasa.
