Leshiba Wilderness

Perched high in the Soutpansberg Mountains, Leshiba Wilderness overlooks a rugged, ancient landscape with rich biodiversity and deep cultural heritage. Walking trails wind through indigenous vegetation and seasonal streams, while guided excursions reveal San rock art sites linked to early hunter-gatherer communities. Venda's artistic influence is also woven into the landscape through cultural interpretation and creative installations, and the clear night skies make stargazing a highlight. Wildlife includes giraffe, zebra, leopard, wildebeest, waterbuck, warthog, red duiker, klipspringer and mountain reedbuck, while birdlife is especially rich with over 250 recorded species, including black and crowned eagles, bat hawks, and Knysna and purple-crested turacos. Activities include self-guided hikes, guided rock art tours, game drives and mountain biking.
