Songo Songo Archipelago

Situated in the Lindi Region of Tanzania’s Indian Ocean coast, the Songosongo Islands offer an other-worldly destination for travellers seeking a tropical getaway. Boasting powdery white sands, gorgeous turquoise waters and ample activities, the archipelago allows for an unforgettable holiday. The four islands - namely Fanjove, Nyuni Island, Songo Songo and Okuza Island - are still relatively undeveloped, providing a remote charm; some are uninhabited and can be visited using traditional dhow boats. You’ll spot dolphins, nesting turtles, and an impressive array of brightly-coloured birds, as well as Coconut Crabs making their way across the sands at night. Along with the Delta Fufiji and Mafia Archipelago, the Songosongo Islands have been declared a Wetland of International Importance.
