The Potato Shed

Located in the historic Newton Cultural Precinct of Johannesburg, The Potato Shed is a barbeque eatery housed in a renovated building that dates back to the early 1900s and served as a traders market before it was abandoned. Historic features are artfully combined with modern elements to create a steampunk theme and the spacious restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining. The creative menu boasts a vast number of modern dishes prepared with pit smokers, fire pits, rotisserie grills, and wood-fired ovens, with potatoes, in every possible shape and form, being a prominent feature of most dishes. The trendy in-house bar is well stocked with popular craft beers, award-winning wines, and a range of innovative cocktails named in keeping with the theme of the place, and The Potato Shed also has their own curing room where they make the biltong that is used in their dishes.
