Ambatomilo

The little fishing village of Ambatomilo is situated on Madagascar’s southwest coast, roughly 3 hours north of the town of Toliara. It is a remote region of white sand shores and temperate turquoise waters, secluded beaches and spectacular submarine life. Several exclusive lodges are dotted in the village’s surrounds and offer a range of activities such as snorkelling and scuba diving, pirogue excursions and fishing trips. It is also possible to organise a guided tour to the iconic ‘Spiny Forest’, located 100 kilometres from Ambatomilo and consisting of trees adapted to the area’s arid conditions, including baobabs and octopus trees with their tentacle-like branches.
