Brickaville

One and a half hour’s drive from Tamatave and five and a half hour’s drive east from Antananarivo, the quaint town of Brickaville lies in the Atsinanana Region of Madagascar along the Rianila River. Surrounded by orchards of orange trees, rolling sugar fields and vast bamboo groves, the town of Brickaville is a breathtaking rural area with many bodies of water and several remote traditional villages. Featuring many transport links from its centre to the surrounding towns, and three nature reserves nearby, it makes a pretty and convenient base for exploring the wider region. At the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, animal lovers can follow the loud song of the enormous indri lemur, see an array of rare orchids, and wonder at the sparkling Sacred Waterfall. Birdwatchers will be enthralled by the variety of rare species like the Madagascar Coucal at the Midongi Du Sud National Park.
