The tiny little seaside village of Morombe lies in the region of Atsimo-Andrefana on the southwestern coast of Madagascar. It serves as the economic centre of this remote region and is known as the capital of the local Vezo people. This off-the-beaten-track village is serviced by a quiet little inland airport, and visitors can also reach the area by 4x4 or the more adventurous can take a long pirogue ride from Belo Sur Mer. Morombe is idyllically sandwiched between vast tidal flats scattered with lush mangroves and the glistening Mozambique Channel which affords visitors the best of both worlds.
