Sambava

Set along northeastern Madagascar’s famed Vanilla Coast, Sambava is the name of the coastal city as well as the surrounding scenic commune. The city of Sambava serves as the capital of the Sambava District and the larger Sava Region. Surrounded by vanilla plantations, it is a hub for the vanilla industry as well as producing a variety of other goods such as cloves, cocoa, coconuts and coffee. It provides an excellent base for visitors to explore the surrounding area including the UNESCO-listed Marojejy National Park, which is home to abundant indigenous fauna and flora. Visitors can enjoy the scenic drive between Sambava and Antalaha, stroll along the quiet beach and view the glistening lakes, lush forests and rivers fringing the city.
