Naro Moru

Kenya

Welcome to Naro Moru

Naro Maru is a little market town on the banks of the Naro Maru River in central Kenya. It is the gateway to Mount Kenya, Africa’s second-highest mountain, standing at an altitude of over 5000 metres. Hiking trails leading up this formidable peak take in spectacular alpine scenery of glaciers, lakes, waterfalls and rugged stone crags. It is surrounded by Mount Kenya National Park, home to mammals such as elephant, antelope and the most elusive of all - leopard. The other nearby attraction is the privately run Solio Game Reserve, a breeding sanctuary for black rhino. The village’s riverside location makes it an excellent bird watching spot. Resident species include cuckoos, paradise flycatchers, ibises, nightjars, sunbirds and honeyguides.
