Situated in the eastern part of the Lamu Archipelago, the sole inhabited island of the Kiunga Marine Reserve, Kiwayu Island offers long swathes of secluded white sand beaches, lovely rock pools and reefs, and fantastic opportunities for scuba diving, snorkelling and other watersports. The surrounding crystal-clear waters are home to an array of marine life, including sea turtles, dolphins, whales and the endangered dugong. Dhows provide an excellent means of exploring other islands in the area and the nearby Dodori and Boni national game reserves, with their residential cheetahs, lions, wild dogs and elephants. Kiwayu makes for the perfect island getaway offering a wide range of activities, including exploring natural caves and deep sea fishing trips.
