About Lake Nabugabo

A calm freshwater lake situated in the Masaka District of Uganda, Lake Nabugabo is a 22 000 hectare waterway separated from Lake Victoria by a lush sandbar. This tranquil retreat features almost 300 plant species, including carnivorous plants and a bevvy of birdlife such as the broad-billed roller, Ross’s turaco, kingfisher, the crested crane, and migratory species that flock to the area. Other notable wildlife include hippos, sitatunga, vervet monkeys, monitor lizards, and squirrels.
