About Uganda Museum
Founded in 1908, this museum in Kampala houses an extensive collection of ethnographic, historical, and musical artefacts. Traditional royal regalia, ancient rock art, and fossils documenting Uganda’s prehistoric past are displayed across themed galleries. A highlight is the outdoor exhibit of traditional grass-thatched huts representing different ethnic groups. A living museum forms a part of the Uganda Museum, known as the Cultural Village, which exhibits the way of life for many Ugandans. Educational programmes and rotating exhibitions provide insight into Uganda’s diverse cultural heritage and natural history.
