About Enduimet Wildlife Management Area
Enduimet Wildlife Management Area rests in Longido District on the Basin land of the western foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Established in 2003, the area encompasses over 1200 kilometres and covers nine villages. Affectionately known as 'the small Garden of Eden', the area is home to the biggest elephants in all of East Africa. Enduimet WMA sets a good example of a community-based conservation area where local Maasai pastoralists are benefiting from tourism and conservation initiatives.
