Shifting Sand Dunes

Shifting Sand Dunes is located along the way to the Serengeti National Park and close to the Olduvai Gorge. Due to the volcanic ash, the dunes are dark and in sharp contrast with the soil of the surrounding landscape. The particles of sand are highly magnetized and re-join easily, even when blown away by the forces of nature. Tourists can visit the dunes via a 4x4 vehicle drive along the trails.
