Rau Nature Forest Reserve

Rau Nature Forest Reserve is located approximately 3 km from Moshi Town in Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Region and is characterised by groundwater forest, with vegetation consisting of natural forest, swamp forest and woodland habitats. Visitors can explore the reserve through nature walks, birdwatching and cycling while observing a variety of wildlife, including monkeys, butterflies and numerous bird species. The reserve is notable for its rich biodiversity, more than 71 native and endemic tree species, and a large African teak tree that is considered one of the oldest and largest of its kind in East Africa.
