About Jock of the Bushveld
Jock of the Bushveld is an icon of Lowveld history, immortalised in the book by Sir Percy Fitzpatrick, whose story was subsequently made into a movie. Jock was born at a campsite on the Voortrekker Road in what is today the Kruger, and he was adopted by Fitzpatrick, an Irish transport rider. Jock was his companion on his travels and is remembered for his unique hunting style and his bravery in encounters with the likes of crocodiles, baboons, buffalo and kudu.
