About Mookgophong

Mookgophong‎, also known as Naboomspruit, lies at the foot of the Swaershoek Mountains in the Limpopo Province. The attractive historic town, with its tree-lined streets, nature reserves, wonderful hot springs and luxurious resorts, attracts visitors year round. The town’s range of exquisite hiking trails is one of its strongest drawcards, with each route having something unique to offer. On the Bokpoort Pass, hikers can see the cycads and wildlife first discovered here by the famous South African writer, poet and ethnologist, Eugene Marais; while on the Serendipity hiking trails travellers can enjoy magnificent birdlife and watch electric storms flash across the valley. An array of thrilling motor routes wind through the dramatic landscapes, and several other outdoor sports are on offer. Animal lovers can see a variety of game including giraffes, kudu's, impalas, zebras, sables, nyalas, red Hartbees, reedbuck, warthogs and many more.
