About Isandlwana

Located in KwaZulu Natal Battlefields, South Africa, Isandlwana is a hill situated approximately 170 kilometres from Durban. The hills' name is derived from the Zulu community believing the hill looks like the second stomach of a cow. In 1879 the Battle of Isandlwana took place on the hill. This historical event was when approximately 22000 Zulu warriors defeated over a thousand British soldiers.

When visiting the site visitors can enjoy the monuments and graves which pay tribute to the battle. A self-drive tour and guided tours are available for visitors to learn about this historic site.
