South Africa Weather

South Africa’s climate ranges from Mediterranean in the Western Cape, to subtropical on the eastern coastline, with even a small section of desert in the north west of the country. Winters are usually quite chilly and wet in the south of the country, while most other parts of the country receive summer rainfall. The wettest months in Cape Town are May to August, while summers in the Johannesburg area are characterised dramatic thunderstorms that can be spectacular to witness.
