About La Motte Museum
This museum offers a stimulating cultural-historical experience, with displays depicting aspects of the Rupert family, focusing on Dr. Anton and Mrs. Huberte Rupert and the musical career of Hanneli Rupert-Koegelenberg. Also featured, is the the history of La Motte and its buildings, with a brief review of Cape Dutch architecture, supported by photographs from that era. The largest room in the museum is dedicated to the life and art of one of South Africa's greatest masters, Jacob Hendrik Pierneef, including a display of part of the family collection previously owned by Pierneef's daughter, Marita. A selection of works by other South African artists can also be seen.
