Phillipps Cave

Phillipp’s Cave, situated on Farm Ameib in Namibia’s Erongo Mountains, is a celebrated national monument showcasing San heritage. Visitors can reach the cave via a two‑hour walk, recommended in the cooler morning hours, with directions available at Ameib reception. Inside, the cave measures 15 metres deep, 35 metres long, and 7 metres high, offering a glimpse into ancient life. Archaeological finds include stone tools dating back to 3500 BC, while the walls display striking rock art. The most famous image is the “White Elephant,” complemented by depictions of wildlife and human handprints, making the cave a vital cultural landmark.
