Located near the village of Foulepointe, on the east coast of Madagascar lies the Fort Manda. The ruins of this 19th-century fort, built by the Malagasy tribe are an important landmark in the history of Madagascar. Made of eggshells, corals, water and sand, this timeless wall was built for protection against foreign intrusion. The fort features a prison, ancient canyons and a palace. It was also the hub of trade and commercial activities.
