Nosy Satrana

Anakao, Madagascar

About Nosy Satrana

Nosy Satrana is a small, uninhabited island located south of Anakao. Known for its excellent snorkelling and diving spots, the island's name derives from the Bismarckia nobilis palm. Heron birds often rest in large tamarind trees found on the island. At low tide, it can be reached by foot, following zebu herdsmen. Ancient eggshells of the extinct elephant-bird can be discovered while snorkelling around the island.
