Voi

On the edge of Kenya’s south-eastern plains, Voi is the largest town on the Nairobi–Mombasa highway in the Coastal region, often used as a base for visiting Tsavo East National Park, whose main gate is just outside town. The town also provides access to Tsavo West National Park, the Taita Hills, and the border town of Taveta, making it a convenient stop for travellers exploring southern Kenya. Dry savannah spreads around Voi, dotted with baobabs, while the Taita Hills rise to the west, offering forested trails and elevated viewpoints. Local lodges and restaurants provide a practical place to rest before dawn game drives, and short excursions allow visitors to experience both wildlife and the quieter hill landscapes nearby.
