Kenyan Coastal Mainland

The Kenyan Coastal Mainland is studded with numerous beautiful beaches and coves, as well as towns and points of cultural interest. The city of Mombasa is the largest and most significant urban centre along this stretch, although it is not strictly part of the mainland but located on an island that is connected to it by means of a causeway. Mombasa has a rich Swahili culture and a captivating Old Town with a rich historical heritage. Other key centres along the coast are the resort town of Diani, with its long white sand beach and plethora of hotels and guesthouses, idyllic Kilifi, Watamu, overlooking two beautiful bays, and Malindi, featuring age-old mosques, vibrant markets, a lively nightlife and the Malindi National Marine Park.
