About The Nairobi Arboretum

Located three kilometres west of Nairobi's city centre, the Nairobi Arboretum spans 30 hectares of lush greenery, providing a serene escape from the city's energetic pace. Established in 1907 to assess the adaptability of exotic tree species in Kenya, it has evolved into a conservation hotspot with over 350 indigenous and exotic plant varieties. The arboretum’s landscape features well-maintained trails winding through groves of jacaranda, eucalyptus, and acacia trees, alongside open grassy spaces ideal for picnics and leisure. Visitors enjoy bird-watching opportunities, spotting species like sunbirds and turacos, and encounters with playful Sykes’ and vervet monkeys. The arboretum’s shaded pathways are favoured by joggers and walkers, while its tranquil environment supports events and gatherings.
