Kiambu Field Kitchen

Kiambu is the nearest county to Nairobi. But whilst Kiambu is considered one of the wealthiest counties, it has the great disparities between the rich and poor. Unemployment levels are extremely high and there are chronic levels of alcoholism amongst the population

Our Field Kitchen for toddlers was set up because of the high levels of malnutrition amongst toddlers. And because of their poor physical state, they suffer severely and unnecessarily from basic childhood illnesses. And with chronic unemployment comes the reality that many of these children and their families have no fixed address. Frequently they are forced to sleep in the street due to the family’s inability to pay their rent.

The Field Kitchen is for the toddlers of these families. At least we can ensure that they get a hearty meal which will help them ward off childhood illnesses and the effects of sleeping rough. Our sponsorship program aims to secure the nutritional needs of the children and stabilise the families’ accommodation.
