Women in impoverished communities are the most marginalised of all groups. Too often they have the responsibility for keeping their families together and the sole income earner. The families of the women at the centre have had lives severely impacted on by illness. But the women, despite all of life’s obstacles are a testament to the human spirit. Their courage and commitment to making a better life for themselves is inspirational. And in support of these women, One Horizon provides a range of programs that helps them break the shackles of the poverty cycle. From sewing machines, chicken programs to new housing it’s a diverse program that confronts poverty on all fronts

The centre is an opportunity to meet the women on a one to one basis and to hear about their life stories. You will see the women’s pride in their newly acquired skills and you will have the opportunity to walk with them as they show you their new homes. It’s a rare chance to simply find out about the real Kenya. And these women now have the chance to earn a living and to keep their families together. Come and see that happening…you may just not want to go home
