Takwa Ruins

Manda Island, Kenya

About Takwa Ruins

Takwa was an old Muslim town. Although it was abandoned for hundreds of years now the Great Mosque is still relatively well preserved and a popular attraction. It was thought to be a place of religious significance and interestingly locals from Shela still come to Takwa twice a year to pray for rain.
