About Lake Simbi National Sanctuary

Lake Simbi National Sanctuary is located close to the town of Kendu Bay. The crater lake measures approximately one kilometre in radius and is home to a variety of bird species such as flamingos, grebes, egrets and Egyptian geese. Bird watchers can observe these gorgeous winged animals in their natural environment. Visitors can see how the residents mine salt from the lake. The water from the lake is not for human consumption due to the high alkalinity but it does hold medicinal properties to treat skin conditions, and it is also believed that the water holds supernatural powers.
