Pate Island

Located in the Indian Ocean, its shores fringed with dense mangroves, Pate is the largest island in the Lamu archipelago. It offers a wealth of diverse historical sites, including many interesting ruins – a particularly impressive one being the fort at Siyu. On the island’s southern coast lie the ancient remains of Shangu, now overgrown with lush coastal scrub.
