About Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary

Established in 1995, Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary is a community-based conservation area in Kenya, located approximately 45 kilometres southwest of Mombasa. Spanning 24 square kilometres, it serves as a crucial migratory corridor for elephants between the Shimba Hills and Mwaluganje Forest Reserve. The sanctuary is home to around 150 elephants, offering visitors guaranteed sightings in a rugged, picturesque landscape. Beyond elephants, the sanctuary hosts diverse wildlife, including giraffes, buffalo, antelopes, monkeys, and numerous bird species, making it a prime destination for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.
