About Rhino Conservation Special Access
Join the Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust and park ecologist, Steve Dell, in a vitally important conservation activity integral to preserving South Africa's (and world's) surviving rhino's in the wild.
You get the chance to be alongside the park rangers, ecologist, pilot and vet in immobilizing a rhino from an airborn chopper and then performing the necessary procedure on this magnificent creature. The most common and most urgent conservation procedures the park needs are: notching (marking the animal for identification), telemetry transmitter installation (in the horn) or de-horning (less frequent).
Being a part of this type of behind-the-scenes conservation action brings the reality of endangered species to heart, what conservation is really about, and being part of the solution. It is a dramatic, breathtaking experience!! It is not cushy and sanitized, rather wild, moving, raw and very REAL!
